Course Introduction

Goal Of The Program

African Americans are 30% more likely to die from heart disease, stroke, hypertension and diabetes. Prevent it from happening to you.

Who can Benefit?

If you are an African American or obese person, you will be able to learn basics of nutrition and how you can apply to your lifestyle. Data From CDC: African Americans ages 18-49 are 2 times as likely to die from heart disease than whites. African Americans ages 35-64 years are 50% more likely to have high blood pressure than whites. CDC recommends using proven programs to reduce disparities and barriers to create opportunities for health.

Why Should you join the program?

Statistics show that approx. 48 percent African-American adults are clinically obese as compared to 32% of whites. It is a common fact that many health risks are associated with obesity as listed below:

• Cardiovascular Disease

• Diabetes

• High blood pressure

• High cholesterol

There is enough research to suggest that higher body mass index (BMI) (≥35.0) and large waist circumference (≥98 cm) are related to serious health consequences among overweight and obese African-American women.

Tracy Amofa-Diatuo

I am Tracy, a state certified dietitian-nutritionist with more than 10 years of experience based in Strasbourg. After working as a Research & Development manager in the food industry for 6 years in England and France, developing food and nutritional products, I decided to go back to my “starting point” as a dietician- nutritionist. This is to really help people who want to improve their health on their journey and achieve their health goals, whatever it is. I founded Tricky Nutrition to show that nutrition and healthy, balanced eating habits can be really simple. Nutrition doesn't have to be complicated, let's make it simple! Yes, no need for complication, deprivation, restriction or deletion of food groups. In fact, I want to help you become more nutritionally intuitive and healthy while achieving your goals. Often in nutritional support, the cultural part is not necessarily included and forgotten. As a result, food programs are often adapted to a diet other than that of the individual! My Ghanaian culture, my multicultural life experiences, my travels and my expertise in food R&D have equipped me to adapt personalized food programs, taking into account the cultural food heritage of individuals. This means that foods or meals specific to your culture should not be banned. Rather, they will be incorporated into your eating plan and eating plan in a healthier way. We often think that ' they are banned to eat healthier but c 'is a part of your identity that I do not want to take away! C ' is like preferences or dietary restrictions, they are to be considered during your accompaniment. And you can eat plantains and yams and be healthy!
